Preface:
Bangladesh Shamaz Kalyan Shamity (BSKS) is a Non Government Voluntary, Social welfare and development organization, registered with social welfare department of Bangladesh. BSKS is a development and awareness organization in various section of local Society and development initiative of environment.

Founder member of BSKS observed that this region(then the East Pakistan)was neglected in various ways by the government of peoples  republic of Pakistan .They felt  that there were   no scope  of development  in East Pakistan  (present Bangladesh)   without private sector development and  public awareness.  So in 1966, BSKS was formed with a modern theme to develop rural community    at Sonakania village under greater Satkania Thana (P.S.) (present Satkania and Lohagara Upazila) of Chittagong district in Bangladesh.

Bridging with general people and   Gov. administration and to develop "Whose help- them selves '' is the main vision of BSKS.

Repair and construction of village roads, culverts by voluntary services, advocacy and campaign for right to primary education and establishing in adult literacy center were BSKS's starting voyage.

At initial stage, the development activities of BSKS   were limited in the said area. Later it expands its activities day by day.

The glorious reward for Bangladesh is independence, which was achieved by the contribution of a lot of dynamic, intelligent and committed young soul who believed in the concept, “fight against poverty and discrimination of inequality”. After independence, we have completed our long journey more than three decades but our economical, socio-political and basic living standard are achieved at very minimum level.

At present, about one hundred fifty million people are living in Bangladesh.  In this densely populated country one half of the people are living under poverty line and one third are illiterate, most of the people of our population persecuted from their fundamental rights. On the other hand, most of the people are not journey aware of their health and nutrition and they are also ignorant how to overcome their dire condition.

In this prevailing situation, immediate steps to transform the over population to the resources by ways of eliminating  illiteracy ,ensuring capabilities of earning own basic needs and promoting awareness amongst  them of  human right  and patriotism  can be a great effort to rebuild this country.
